Senior PHP developer

Launched in January 2010, the Kolektiva Group is the first and market-leading daily deal couponing company in Central Eastern Europe, operating in ten countries with 170+ employees. We are backed by Rebate Networks GmbH, Europe’s premier investors in social media enterprises with a network of daily deal businesses in CEE and Asia.

Having pioneered the core daily deal business model in CEE, where we have built a robust user-base of over 3 million subscribers, the Kolektiva Group is now expanding its business into new horizons by launching strategic initiatives in travel segment, local-commerce, online advertising and shopping/ecommerce.
We are currently looking for highly motivated, creative and ambitious individual to join our international IT team. If you are Senior PHP developer with experience and enjoy challenges and startup environment, read on cause this is the right position for you!

Responsibilities: 
• Improve existing technology and build new platforms from scratch to support Kolektiva Group initiatives
• Develop, document and maintain the IT platform – produce high quality work from the top architecture down to the code line
• Integrate disparate external systems and/or existing daily deal platforms into coherent whole
• Look for opportunities to optimize the platform (applications) on multiple levels to increase performance
• Deliver clean, consistent and documented codebase
• Work with version control systems and project tracking tools that are in place
• Manage quality assurance process (integration and testing) in coordination with QA department 
• Communicate effectively and proactively with stakeholders and colleagues regarding plans, products, issues and timelines
• Support different business units by meeting their technical requirements
 
Requirements: 
• Prerequisite: 
o Minimum 2 years of relevant practical experience in professional PHP development
o Thorough understanding of OOP principles, practices and common design patterns and practical applications
o Basic knowledge of Java and related technologies (JSP, Hibernate, etc) 
• Valuable additional experience:
o Linux administration knowledge 
o Previous experience in working in multinational agile development teams and environment
o Previous experience with Magento eCommerce platform or Zend Framework as a senior developer or strong PHP OOP skills and experience in another PHP framework
o Previous experience in developing or maintaining large applications in high-load, high-availability scenarios
o Proven track record of being able to adapt to new technologies fast and a pronounced passion for learning new things
o Experience in working collaboratively or independently
o Experience in planning, organizing and following through on projects
 
Your code:
• Should be written with performance in mind, without sacrificing maintainability
• Should follow security standards and best practices
• Should follow DRY and KISS principles
• Should be as self-documenting as possible and well commented, focusing on "the why" rather than "the what".
• Should be coded against the platform, having the "big picture" in mind
 
Selection process includes initial screening and shortlisting followed by on-site interviews for selected candidates. Note that if invited to the interview
• You will be asked to write code on spot  
• You will be asked to solve problems
• You will be asked to elaborate on your solution proposals
• You won't be asked silly questions
• You won't be judged by your formal education (even though a college degree is a plus!)
• You won't be expected to perform miracles
